Clinic Schedule
Dr. Steve Peters

— Equine & Human Neuroscientist —

Schedule

Thank you to these wonderful hosts who are working hard to bring Horse Brain Science with Dr. Steve Peters throughout the world.

2025-2026 Schedule

  • Discover how the horse’s brain works and what that means for training, behavior, and communication. Level 1 builds the foundation for understanding how to work with the horse’s brain, not against it.

Participants are asked to read Evidence-Based Horsemanship beforehand — available on our Book Page or on Amazon.

  • Take the science from Level 1 and put it into practice. This advanced clinic combines hands-on and observational learning, allowing up to six participants to bring horses, while the remaining students attend without horses. Participants deepen their understanding of how horses process information and how to create conditions that promote calmness, focus, and learning.

Completion of Level 1 is required.

Due to high demand, we have already scheduled our Horse Brain Science Clinics with Dr. Peters for 2026 and we have a wait list for 2027. Preparation for 2027 will begin in January 2026 and our 2027 schedule will be complete by May, 2026.

OUTLINES

Horse Brain Science Clinic – Level I

An Introduction to Equine Neuroscience and Learning

Led by Dr. Steve Peters, this clinic provides a foundational understanding of how the horse’s brain functions and learns. The emphasis is on neurobiological mechanisms—how sensory input, attention, arousal, memory, and motor output are governed by brain systems and neurochemistry.

Morning sessions consist of clear, structured classroom presentations covering core neuroanatomy, neurochemistry, and learning processes.
Afternoons offer practical demonstrations with live horses, applying concepts covered earlier in the day.

A highlight of this clinic is the hands-on equine brain dissection—a rare opportunity for participants to examine the internal structures of the horse brain. This direct experience deepens understanding of how neural architecture supports movement, perception, and learning.

Participants will leave with an evidence-based framework for interpreting how horses process information and form associations—replacing assumptions with clarity and optimizing their learning.

Horse Brain Science Clinic – Level II

Advanced Study in Equine Neuroscience

This clinic is intended for participants who have completed Level I or have a strong foundation in neuroscience. The content builds on core principles from Level I to explore equine brain systems in greater depth.

Morning sessions focus on advanced topics, including cortical and subcortical processing, the neuroendocrine system, stress regulation, attention networks, and learning circuits.

Afternoon sessions include three individual one-hour horse sessions each day, where a limited number of riders work with their own horses. These sessions provide an opportunity to interpret equine responses through a neurobiological lens and reinforce the material discussed in the classroom. All attendees observe and engage in these sessions as part of the learning experience.

This clinic is structured for those seeking a deeper, science-based understanding of equine brain function and its relevance to real-world application.
